Article #1: A Salmon Cannon is an article about salmon spawning, and the issues they face whilst swimming upstream.

Article #1: Growing a Garden Where? is an article about a person who has started to grown vegetables in the Northern Regions of Nunavut. It is all about the challenges of growing vegetables in a Northern climate (something we can relate to a bit). 

Monday May 11-Friday May 15

Article #1: Mining and Forestry. Keeping with the theme of resources, this articles take a closer look at

mining and forestry. From surface and underground mining, to deforestation and biodiversity, this article will give you a better understanding of two of the most common types of resource extraction in Canada. 

Monday May 4- Friday May 8

Article #1: What are Resources? is an article about resources around the world. It tells you the difference between a renewable and non-renewable resource, and give you some background information as well. 

Monday April 27- Friday May 1

Article #1: Where do you live is an  article about the difference between urban cities and rural communities. It asks you to imagine what you might hear, see, or smell in both of those environments. It has lots of good reading strategies to help you understand the text better as well. 

Monday April 20- Thursday April 24

Article #1: Welcome to Mars is an interesting article about NASA's summer program that is run in Nunavut, on a terrain that is similar to the enviornment of Mars, right here on our very own planet! 

Tuesday April 14- Friday April 17 

Article #1: Spotlight on Organ Transplants is an interesting article about organ donors and is science based.  This article has some increased vocabulary and is good if you are looking for a more challenging read.

Article #2: Coyotes in our Backyard is an article about coyotes moving into urban cities, and what that might mean for neighborhoods! Think of all the animals you may see in our city while you read. 

 Monday April 6- Friday April 10 

Article #1: Tourism in space. This article is all about going to space for your next holiday!! This article has some increased vocabulary and is good if you are looking for a more challenging read.

Article #2: Welcome home is an article about a heard of bison that were reintroduced in Wanuskewin in Northern Saskatoon! If you like animals, this is an interesting read!
